The New Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

The idea was somewhat the same. A contest for Children to find the new heir for Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but then it goes haywire. I like the moment the arrive. Not the way I remember it. Also there one kid that is supposed to shrink. Well in this version he is flattened like a posterboard figure. They got the girl with the chewing gum correct. I did like the traveling elevator. Though new a good idea. What was a miss is Willie Wonka visiting Charlie and his family and having dinner??? Don't remember that in the original? And having Charlie say no to Willie Wonka when asked if he'd like to come and live with him. And only Charlie. I seem to remember that in the original Charlie was offered to bring his family along. I don't remember Willie Wonka visiting his father?? I thought Willie was an orphan? Well anyway it ends with Willie Wonka eating a meal with Charlie and his family. No mention if Charlie can bring his family to live at the Factory. I give this movie 2 out of 5 stars. Those 2 are for effort only.
